Riverside Estates West is the company’s latest development and is located just minutes from the New Jersey border and within striking distance of New York City and Philadelphia.

Saturday mornings at the farmers markets, choosing among a bounty of fresh produce, artisan cheeses and other mouth-watering fare. A hike or bike ride along spectacular trails bordering the Delaware River. A visit to the zoo. Or a mule-drawn ride along the canal.

This is just a sampling of the many outdoor activities that abound in the Lehigh Valley.

And with spring in full bloom, there is no better time to reserve your spot at Riverview Estates West, located in the center of this mecca of all things nature.

Riverview Estates West is a collection of 221 luxury homes, being expertly constructed by renowned builder Segal & Morel Inc., a family construction business that has been building quality homes for more than 40 years.

Located in Forks Township, Riverside Estates West is the company’s latest development and is located just minutes from the New Jersey border and within striking distance of New York City and Philadelphia.

“We are releasing 46 new homesites,’’ said Adam Segal, vice president. “For people who have been here before, there is now something new to come see. For people who haven’t visited us before, there’s a lot new for them to come see.’’

With the first two phases of Riverview Estates already fully developed and the third phase about 80 percent complete, the options to claim a spot in this ideally located premier community are dwindling, Segal said.

“We encourage people to come have a look and whatever each person feels is special to them, to grab that site,’’ he added. “All the sites have a different character. They range in size from one-quarter acre up to just shy of a half-acre. They have varied settings and views — all of them ideally situated to enjoy the fine spring weather.’’

The community exemplifies Segal & Morel’s commitment to building superior homes. All homes, which range from 2,000 to 4,000-plus square feet, feature numerous architectural details that eschew the boxy look of many newer homes. These homes have niches, exterior stone, arched openings, large porches with hand-crafted columns and other special features that invite the outdoors in.

They sport high ceilings and abundant natural light, three or four bedrooms and two-and-one-half bathrooms, as well as kitchens created by certified designers to achieve both exceptional form and function, Segal said.

This open, airy living can be extended to the outside, with homesites featuring large yards that homeowners can customize to create their special outdoor living space.

Within the community and nearby, opportunities abound to enjoy the spring and summer weather. The community sports a plethora of amenities, including a community pool, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, hiking trails that lead to the Delaware River and a recreation center. The Riverview Golf Course also is within walking distance of the community.

“When you start thinking about this time of year, people are tired of being cooped up and they are ready to get out,’’ Segal noted. “What better way to do that than choosing a new homesite and then enjoying some of the great outdoor activities the Lehigh Valley has to offer.’’

One of the area’s most beloved attractions is the Easton Farmers Market, open every Saturday from May to December. Established in 1752, the year of the city’s founding, it is the longest running farmers market in the country.

Each Saturday, farmers and merchants gather in Easton’s Centre Square to sell their fresh and handcrafted wares. Residing in its original birthplace, the market offers visitors a vibrant shopping experience featuring a full range of produce from area farms, as well as artisanal cheeses, bakery items, local wine and delicious prepared foods to take home. The market is a short drive from Riverview Estates, so residents can visit often.

Another great nearby option is the Allentown Farmers Market, which for more than six decades has been offering fresh meats, produce, deli items, baked goods and other scrumptious fare.

The butchers here have a reputation for offering up some of the best cuts of meat and the Amish bakery is not to be missed. With more than 60 merchants, shoppers can find something to please any palate. The Allentown Farmers Market is open Thursdays through Saturdays at the Allentown Fairgrounds, 17th and Chew streets.

Riverview Estates residents who enjoy hiking and biking also will find themselves ideally situated, with the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, known as the D&L Trail, located near the community.

Considered one of the country’s most picturesque trails, the 165-mile path follows the Lehigh and Delaware rivers, winding through the mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, passing through the Lehigh Valley and Bucks County. The mostly flat section runs between Bethlehem and Easton — very near Riverview Estates — and is great for a run, bike or a leisurely stroll.

Also nearby is Easton’s Hugh Moore Park where America’s golden age of canals is carefully documented, preserved and presented. Visitors can enjoy a mule-drawn ride aboard the 110-passenger Josiah White II canal boat, guided by crew members dressed in period costumes who share the story of canals that once carried coal, along with the people who worked on them.

Also at Hugh Moore Park is the National Canal Museum, one of the largest in the country, featuring hands-on exhibits highlighting 19th century canal life and technology.

Another alluring outdoor option is the Lehigh Valley Zoo, which, while not as large as other big-city zoos, has its own great attractions, including the penguins, who line up at feeding time to enjoy their fishy snacks, and the Mexican gray wolves. Located in Schnecksville, the zoo’s smaller size is well-suited for families with young children — or those who don’t want to do too much walking.

These are just a handful of the many outdoor attractions within easy striking distance of Riverview Estates West. So gather up the kids or grandkids, pack a lunch and head out to Forks Township to choose a home site — and enjoy the many sights the Lehigh Valley has to offer.

Single-family homes start from the low $300,000s and can be customized to fit the needs and desires of the homebuyer. Brand-name products and unique architectural details, along with a 10-year RWC home warranty, make each home worry free.

The sales center at Riverview Estates is located at 2749 Sheffield Drive in Easton, Pa. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
